Our Raleigh / Durham, NC office is looking for a strong Project Architect to join the Healthcare Market Sector. Our next team member will have excellent communication, design, graphic and visualization skills. This individual will serve a key role coordinating with design and technical project team members throughout the design process to successfully execute architectural projects. They will have experience working with hospitals and healthcare providers, working with user groups, and guiding projects through the client approval process.Initially the position will be the only Healthcare team member in the Raleigh / Durham office, and will report to and coordinate with the Charlotte healthcare team.
The intent is to grow the team as workload progresses.
About The Position
- Develops a thorough understanding of project’s clinical, technical, and design requirements and provides input in developing a design strategy and effectively conveys this to assigned team members when appropriate
- Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors in support of the Principal In Charge
- Participates in marketing, client and owner presentations in support of the Principal In Charge as required
- Seeks creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documents to support these solutions
- Actively collaborates with and coordinates work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project
- Mentors young architects and designers, providing education in areas of healthcare expertise and architectural design and technical expertise
- Advances the production of schematic, design development and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost and design intent
- Delivers complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation
- Aware of evolving healthcare technology and systems
- Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, RFP’s, change orders, etc.), including the review of shop drawings, material samples and CD’s for conformance with design
- Able to work independently and proactively communicate with team members in other offices
About You
- 6-10 years of experience in the Architectural field
- License required
- Experience in Healthcare required – both Inpatient and Outpatient experience preferred
- Has a passion for designing high-quality built environments that enrich the lives of patients and support staff workflow
- Experience participating in client meetings and sub-consultant coordination
- Able to work across multiple projects in varied phases of design potentially for multiple clients at the same time
- Excellent design, graphic and presentation skills
- Enthusiasm for exploring new graphic and design tools
- Strong Revit skills required
- Experience in preparing construction documents and construction administration
- Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations
- ACHA or EDAC credentials are a plus
