Position Details:


The Child Mind Institute is looking for a licensed mental health professional to join our School and Community Programs team in New York City. Clinicians provide evidence-based service delivery in high-need K-12 schools across the five boroughs, including prevention-focused mental health skill building, individual treatment, small group treatment, educator consultation, and workshops for caregivers and educators. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to increasing access to high-quality mental health care.Reporting to the clinical manager, this a full-time hybrid position (onsite 4 days per week).

You Will:


  • Deliver evidence-based group and individual therapy for students who present with common mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma and behavioral challenges
  • Conduct intake evaluations to determine program eligibility and set treatment goals, and administer validated measures for outcome monitoring and program evaluation purposes.
  • Lead class wide skill building workshops that teach cognitive-behavioral coping skills to K-12  students
  • Deliver presentations to caregiver and educator audiences on various mental health topics.
  • Consult and build relationships with educators and school staff to implement strategies that reduce mental health symptoms, promote school success, and support program sustainability
  • Complete clinical documentation including intake evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes promptly 
  • Other job-related tasks as assigned

You Have:


  • Masters degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, clinical counseling or marriage and family therapy. At least 2 years’ work experience in mental health, social work, education, or a related field, with at least 1 year experience or training in a school setting
  • Current New York LMSW or LMSW eligible (limited permit must be obtained upon hire) 
  • Strong clinical skills in assessing and treating children and adolescents with mental health disorders, and engaging families and educators in treatment
  • Experience with the delivery of at least one evidence-based intervention with an interest in learning additional interventions. 
  • Experience providing instruction in a group setting (e.g., classroom, workshop, seminar) and engage a variety of audiences

Pay Range


The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range. In addition, this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
