Job Description
In this high visibility role as the Accounting Manager, you will lead critical accounting functions and guide the success of your team and the company. You will oversee core accounting functions, guide a high-performing team, and help standardize financial processes in compliance with GAAP, company policy, and group goals. You will achieve excellence in accurate and timely financial reporting, ensure compliant processes, manage risk, and provide strategic analysis to support executive decision making in a collaborative way that assures internal and external customer satisfaction.To be successful in this role, you should have superior levels of integrity, honesty, outstanding people skills and be a driven problem-solver with a positive attitude.
In this role you will report directly to the President & CEO.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.).
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead responsibility for monthly general ledger and financial reporting.
- Perform disciplined month-end closure of the books each month in a timely manner.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor accounting Team Members.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, credit, and collections.
- Hire, train, and evaluate accounting personnel.
- Accounting Policies and Procedures:
- Maintain, improve, and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Maintain accurate accounting records.
- Focus on continuous automation of the ERP systems in a collaborative work environment ensuring the functional team leaders’ needs are met in the system.
- Maintain appropriate insurance records and negotiate appropriate coverages.
- Financial Planning and Strategy:
- Assist in developing and implementing financial strategies.
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions.
- Internal Controls:
- Ensure the integrity of the company's financial data.
- Monitor and assess internal controls.
- Foster credibility for the financial team by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist the President’s office and other Leadership Team Members.
- Prepare cash flow projections, scheduling of bank transfers and reviews with President for approval/transfers as necessary to enhance cash position and profitability.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Lead data compilation and preparation of tax returns.
- Coordinate audits of financial information as required.
- Additional related duties as may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
Experience You Have:
- Minimum five years prior experience leading multi-disciplinary accounting functions and invoicing.
- At least two years of recent hands-on experience with NetSuite.
- Must have in-depth experience with direct and indirect cost accounting and understanding of Amortization Schedules.
- Deep understanding, experience, and knowledge of percentage of completion accounting.
- Knowledge in Construction Accounting, AIA documents, Waiver of Liens, etc.
- Experience with a Service based business and small entrepreneurial team environment – highly desired.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable or other bookkeeping experience.
- Microsoft Office, Word and Excel skills, Advanced Excel skills and Pivot Tables a plus.
- Attention to detail along with speed and accuracy a must.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to multi-task and well organized.
- Can work well under pressure.
- Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
- Ability to discreetly handle sensitive information.
- Some experience using IT and accounting knowledge to automate processes.
- Experience working in a leadership capacity.
Education/Training You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Accounting, Finance, etc.) with relevant experience.
- Any other related industry certification(s) preferred
