Title: Position Overview: Civil Engineering Intern – Data Center Construction
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Intern to join our team in supporting the construction of a
several data centers in North America (Denver, Chicago, Portland, Phoenix).
The position will be based in Denver and requires some travel. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced construction environment, providing an opportunity to learn the intricacies of data center builds while working alongside experienced professionals.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Support & Monitoring
- Assist in on-site inspections and progress tracking of civil engineering activities.
- Monitor adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Document and report any deviations or issues to the project manager or supervisor.
- Design & Documentation
- Review and interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and updating project documentation, including site layout, grading, and utility plans.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect and analyze construction-related data for project optimization.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Coordination & Collaboration
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to support day-to-day construction activities.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, contributing insights and observations.
- Learning & Development
- Gain knowledge of data center infrastructure, including foundations, drainage systems, utility connections, and site-specific challenges.
- Observe and assist with the implementation of innovative construction technologies and practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills

- Prior internship or coursework related to construction or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in construction.
- Interest in data center design and construction
Experience/Education
- Actively enrolled working towards Bachelor’s degree (Junior or Senior credit status)
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and construction processes.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Revit is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to a dynamic construction site.
