Hardware Technician, Entry Level

What you will be doing!


As a Hardware Technician, you will provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support both on-site and remotely for computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment. Your responsibilities will include conducting site surveys, assessing and documenting current site configurations and user requirements, analyzing existing needs, and preparing specifications for hardware acquisitions. Additionally, you will create engineering plans and Technical Design Packages for site installations, develop hardware installation schedules, and prepare drawings to document configuration changes at each site.

You will also create installation and test reports, configure computers and communication devices, train site personnel on the proper use of hardware, and build specialized interconnecting cables.

Responsibilities


  • Troubleshoot, repair, and test computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment
  • Install and configure computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment and associated cabling
  •  Maintain government and/or vendor-manufactured fiber optic modems, multiplexer, fiber optic/Ethernet cables & telephone systems
  • Updates technical drawings using AutoCAD software as needed

Experience and Education: 


  • High school diploma or GED with zero (0) to two (2) years of experience; AND 8570 Certification is required. Preferred: Security+ certification. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field may substitute for years of experience.
  • Highly skilled in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Proficient in installing Windows, software, applications, antivirus programs, and patches.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and effectively assist end-users remotely.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Windows 7 and 10, with familiarity in Active Directory security and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with outstanding communication skills for effective interaction with team members and support staff.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work an 8-hour shift between 6 AM and 6 PM, as determined by management.
  • Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph to be considered for this role.
