If you are passionate about creating real solutions that help businesses with cutting-edge technology, want to be challenged to think out of the box and be in a position where you can impact change on a daily basis, then LightEdge can offer you a dynamic corporate environment built on teamwork and personal responsibility.The Payroll Specialist with Lightedge will provide courteous and professional support to the accounting team, Lightedge employees, vendors and customers.  This position will be a blend of payroll duties.  The ideal person for this role should have a general background in accounting as well as experience processing payroll and a willingness to jump in and assist with projects as needed. 

Responsibilities:


  • Administer biweekly payrolls for hourly and salaried employees, as well as monthly commission payroll.
  • Verify that timecards are complete and approved on time by managers.
  • Calculate and enter monthly sales commissions as part of the payroll process.
  • Respond to and manage state-issued payroll tax notices, including inquiries, audit requests, or discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the People Operations and Accounting departments to ensure the accuracy of payroll data and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll laws, such as final pay laws and time off regulations, to ensure compliance.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and concerns in a timely, caring, and professional manner.
  • Review and approve employee change requests in the payroll system, such as direct deposits and address changes.
  • Respond to requests for payroll-related information from the Chief People Officer, as well as other senior managers throughout the company
  • Prepare and distribute monthly payroll reports.
  • Oversee employee timekeeping systems, ensuring that all hours worked, paid time off, and overtime are accurately recorded and processed.
  • Review and process employee W-2s.
  • Process employee deductions such as child support, garnishments, and other wage adjustments as required.
  • Respond to unemployment questionnaires and requests for wage records.
  • Assist People Operations with onboarding new hires and processing terminations.
  • Handle auditor requests for 401K and workers comp audits.
  • Assist in reviewing employee expenses and ensure the policy is followed.
  • Workers’ compensation premium audits including correct classifications of employees.

Education and Experience:


  • 2-4 Year Accounting Degree
  • 2+ years previous experience working in payroll
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred and/or significant coursework in wage and hour laws and taxation and/or Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic accounting/general business skills
  • Basic analytical/decision-making skills
  • Proficient planning/organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and other Office software
  • Experience in UKG is preferred 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, adjusting priorities accordingly
  • Able to maintain professional demeanor under stress
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
