Qrypt’s mission is to protect the world’s data and restore privacy. Qrypt hardens cybersecurity and future-proofs encryption against quantum attacks by eliminating key transmission. Qrypt’s unique technology independently generates symmetric keys at multiple endpoints for critical workflows today. We are a passionate team of engineers, physicists, and cryptographers committed to transforming the way the world safeguards data and communications!
We are seeking a Hardware Engineer to contribute to the development of a world-changing cryptographic solution by owning the design and manufacturing of cutting-edge quantum random number generator hardware. You must have experience in low noise analog/mixed signal design, circuit simulation (SPICE), and end-to-end production through delivery – including functional block design, schematic capture, BOM building, and PCB design/layout. Experience delivering functioning, manufacturable, reliable, fully documented hardware is critical. This is an onsite Germantown, MD role.
What you'll do
- Play a major role in the design of Qrypt’s Quantum Entropy Source hardware, from design, through manufacturing, to bring-up, testing and deployment
- Perform analog, digital, and electro-optical circuit design for quantum entropy hardware
- Develop schematics, BOMs, hardware specifications, and test procedures
- Guide PCB layout as required
- Collaborate with the embedded software and FPGA engineers to assure system delivery
- Develop and execute hardware design verification testing as well as system level verification and validation
- Participate and contribute to hardware, software, and system design reviews
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience in analog/mixed signal PCB-level circuit design
- Experience designing boards with FPGAs and/or microcontrollers
- Experience with systematic board bring-up and testing
- Experience with circuit simulation using LTspice or similar
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (preferably Cadence OrCAD)
- Experience with serial communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
- Experience with electronics lab/test equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, JTAG debuggers)
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++ and hardware description languages (VHDL or Verilog)
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to bring a hardware system from concept to product to deployment
- Eagerness to work with physicists, mathematicians, cryptographers and cloud engineers in developing, testing and deploying state-of-the-art quantum entropy source modules
Benefits and Perks
