Role Overview


We're seeking a senior-level digital product designer to help evolve the Cambly experience across all platforms. You'll work directly with product managers and engineers to develop world-class user experiences. As part of a cross-functional team, you'll collaborate frequently with engineers, researchers, analysts, and other stakeholders throughout all phases of the product development cycle.As a product designer at Cambly, you'll help shape experiences that literally change lives—enabling students to pursue international education, advance their careers, and connect with people across cultures.

You'll work on challenges that combine educational pedagogy with consumer technology in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where your designs will reach users worldwide.

What You'll Bring


  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products (UI/UX)
  • A portfolio showcasing strong visual design skills—typography, color theory, layout, information hierarchy, and high-quality UI/UX execution
  • Proven ability to build effective cross-functional relationships, especially with engineering and product teams
  • Excellent project management skills with experience handling multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Experience contributing to and working within design systems
  • Strong user-centered design practices and methodologies
  • Clear communication skills to articulate design decisions and rationale to diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in environments using A/B or multivariate experimentation
  • A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for continuous learning
  • Experience mentoring junior designers

What You'll Do


  • Design intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing user experiences for our global audience
  • Partner with product and engineering managers to define roadmaps, set metric goals, design experiments, and synthesize learnings
  • Advocate for users throughout the product development process
  • Lead the design process from concept through implementation, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI
  • Iterate based on user feedback, research insights, and performance data
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation that matches design intent
  • Provide clear documentation that effectively communicates user flows to partners and stakeholders
  • Contribute to our design system while ensuring consistency across products
  • Maintain proactive communication with team members and cross-functional partners
  • Educate non-designers on design processes, practices, and principles

  • Building a tutor discovery experience that is engaging and effective at connecting students with the perfect tutor
  • Expanding our marketplace offerings to capture new learner and tutor segments
  • Creating a classroom experience where lesson content is generated by AI to be tailored to the learner's needs
  • Building post-lesson activities that are curated to fit each learner's areas for improvement
  • Optimizing learner flows to drive increased bookings

Tools & Technologies


  • Strong proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we use Figma, Adobe CS, and Google Workspace)
  • Coding knowledge is a plus but not required

This role is based in San Francisco, and the expected base salary range for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Compensation Package
