HR Executive Counselor

Job Summary:


The HR Executive Counselor will work with clients to identify their HR needs, curate McLean & Company research solutions, and build / enhance client’s HR strategies to help them make the most of their McLean & Company membership. The Executive Counselor will advise, guide, and provide insights to executive HR leaders in delivering improved results by optimizing decision making, mitigating risk, and addressing the struggles and challenges they face on the path to personal and professional excellence.

Main responsibilities:


  • Building trusted relationships with approximately 26 HR executive clients across all industries and business models 
  • Delivering advisory services through regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings, typically via videoconference, and serving as their guide to ensure full optimization of McLean & Company resources, tools and solutions.
  • Facilitation of 4-to-8-hour long strategy sessions that may be in person or on-site at the client’s preferred location on topics identified as critical for the client (16 hours total per year per client). Examples include HR strategy, DEI strategy and roadmap, restructuring / organization design, creation of an employe value proposition.
  • Active participation in all phases of the member lifecycle including prospecting, onboarding, delivery of ongoing services, growing the account and renewal.
  • Evaluating client needs and developing custom initiative plans to help clients establish / evolve their HR strategy, achieve their objectives, and deliver on key initiatives.
  • Host and/or facilitate business development efforts including proof of concept calls, webinars, roundtables, CHRO dinner events and presentations at annual forums and conferences.
  • Collaborating with and coaching Sales colleagues in proactive account management, identifying growth opportunities and ensuring account health.
  • Providing input into McLean & Companies research agenda based on client interactions and needs.
  • Critical metrics for this role include account retention and growth of book of business.

Required Qualifications


  • An undergraduate degree in related field
  • 15+ years in HR with 5 years as the senior most leader of HR / CHRO
  • In depth understanding of and subject matter expertise across multiple HR functions
  • Experience in working directly with all members of the C-Suite and Boards of Directors.

  • Preferred Qualifications:


  • HR certification (e.g. CHRP, CHRL, SHRM).
  • Master’s degree
  • Coaching certification
  • HR consulting experience
  • McLean & Company client experience

    • Proven ability to participate in unstructured value-added discussions with clients and create new methods for a client’s personal success.

    • Proven ability to create frameworks around fuzzy or unstructured topics, to enable colleagues and clients with executable, practical solutions to HR challenges.
    • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, flexible, rapidly changing work environment.
    • Intellectually curious about the effect of HR on the business landscape, with a passion for continuous learning.
    • Solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick and how HR professionals/executive teams operate.

    Other:


    • Must be eligible to work within the United States.
    • Travel up to 30% of the time within North America.
    • Client meetings may require working outside of the standard business hours
