Compensation:
$182,510 - $232,700
Work Schedule:
8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite)
General Summary:
Under the direction of the Deputy General Counsel, handle the day‑to‑day legal issues of the Executive Director and the various departments of the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio), with a focus on the legal needs of the investments department.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provide legal information, advice or other services to STRS Ohio management and investments staff, with a focus on alternative investments.
- Draft, review and negotiate investment contracts and other legal documents.
- Provide oversight and assistance to special counsel appointed to STRS Ohio by the Attorney General’s Office.
- Advise internal investment staff on applicable securities and other laws and regulations.

Summary of Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required.
- An active Ohio law license in good standing or ability to obtain a Certificate to Practice Law Pending Admission in Ohio required.
- Minimum of five years of relevant legal experience required, with at least three years of securities or corporate transactional experience.
- Experience in public pensions and/or investments including private equity and private credit fund investments, equity and debt co-investments and/or direct equity and debt investments preferred.
