The Opportunity
Our client, a government agency in Miami-Dade County, FL, seeks an experienced Data Migration Lead to support the implementation of a large-scale third-party vendor system. This role primarily focuses on the planning, execution, validation, and conversion of data from legacy information systems into the vendor’s solution. The candidate will work closely with our client and vendor teams, and must be local to South Florida due to occasional on-site requirements.Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage end-to-end data migration tasks from multiple legacy applications into a unified vendor system.
- Design, plan, and document comprehensive data migration strategies and processes.
- Conduct detailed investigation of source system functionalities and data structures to perform accurate data mapping.
- Develop and implement data cleansing and standardization strategies to ensure data quality.
- Lead the execution of data migration processes through development, testing, and production deployment phases.
- Coordinate and conduct data conversion testing and validation, resolving issues with business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Regularly communicate progress, issues, and risks to the project management team.
Compensation and Term This opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $135,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.Qualifications you
need
A successful candidate has the following experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience with data migration, conversion, or related tasks.Extensive experience in database management and development, specifically with SQL Server, SSIS, SQL, and Stored Procedures.
- Demonstrated expertise in Excel, ETL tools, and techniques.
- Proven ability to manage complex IT projects within large organizations, using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with mainframe application development/support, specifically IDMS databases and COBOL.
