Full-timeDescriptionThe Controls Engineer at Relevant Industrial is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems that ensure the efficient operation of industrial processes. This role involves working closely with clients to understand their specific needs, designing custom control solutions using PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems, and providing technical support throughout the installation and commissioning phases. The Controls Engineer also troubleshoots and optimizes existing systems to enhance performance, safety, and reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Control System Design


  • Design and develop control systems, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA      systems, tailored to client requirements and industry standards.
  • Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Select and specify appropriate hardware and software components      for control systems.

Programming and Implementation


  • Write, debug, and implement PLC, DCS, and SCADA programs for      industrial processes.
  • Develop control logic and algorithms for optimal system      performance.
  • Integrate control systems with existing equipment and      infrastructure.

Project Management


  • Manage control system projects from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to ensure      successful delivery.
  • Provide regular project status updates, addressing milestones and      potential risks.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting


  • Deliver on-site and remote technical support during system      installation and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Continuously optimize systems for enhanced reliability and      efficiency.

Documentation and Training


  • Prepare documentation such as user manuals, technical      specifications, and design descriptions.
  • Conduct training for clients and internal staff on control system      operations and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of system modifications and upgrades.

Continuous Improvement


  • Keep current with control engineering trends, technologies, and      best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Support the development and testing of new control products and      solutions.

Working Relationships


Internal:

Reports to Technical Services Manager; collaborates with Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support teams.

External:

Interfaces with clients, vendors, and suppliers to ensure effective project delivery.

Performance Metrics


  • Quality and punctuality of system designs and implementations.
  • Reliability and efficiency of installed systems.
  • Customer satisfaction and project feedback.
  • Adherence to schedules and budgets.

Requirements

QualificationsEducation and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering,      or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control system design,      programming, and implementation—ideally in an industrial setting.

Skills and Competencies


  • Expertise in PLCs, DCS systems, and control logic programming.
  • Proficiency in control platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens,      Honeywell, and Schneider Electric.
  • Experience with SCADA systems (preferred).
  • Familiarity with control hardware (sensors, actuators, networks).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Willingness to travel for installation, commissioning, and      technical support.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment


  • Office-based with frequent travel to client sites.
  • May work in industrial settings with high temperatures, noise, or      confined spaces.
  • Prolonged periods of desk work, computer use, and technical      interaction.
  • Visual acuity for screen use and technical reading.
  • Manual dexterity for control and electronic equipment operation.
