Position:         Senior AccountantReports to:     Controller


Scope:


This exempt full-time position, is based in Washington, D.C. The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Finance Team with extensive experience in government contracting or NGO’s with government grants and proficiency in JAMIS ERP. The incumbent plays a pivotal role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and optimizing the use of JAMIS ERP for efficient financial reporting and analysis. The incumbent reports to the Controller. 

General Responsibilities


  • Biling and Revenue:
  • Responsible for processing revenue and billing in JAMIS Prime ERP. 
  • Collaborate with grant managers to ensure billing and revenue accuracy in JAMIS.     
  • Reconcile grant/contract related receivables and refundable advances.
  • Payroll:
  • Reconcile and record US payroll, with HR systems and third-party processor.     
  • Manage payroll periods in JAMIS.   
  • Manage the JAMIS settings allowing timesheet related reclass entries that have been fully approved.   
  • Onboard, administer, and offboard employees in JAMIS.  Updating pay changes, job title changes, or policy changes impacting payroll including the annual holiday schedule.   
  • Record and reconcile other payroll and benefit transactions.  
  • General Financial Oversight Duties:
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.  
  • Assist with executing transactions for the appropriate accounting functions (i.e., allocations, open/close periods, execute batch processes, etc.) 
  • Support the audit process.   
  • Serve as a backup when other staff are out of the office.   
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in government contracting or NGO with significant federal contracts/grants and 2 years’ experience with JAMIS ERP and strong understanding of its modules and functionalities. 
  • Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: 
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, FAR, CAS, US donor and DCAA compliance requirements. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, conceptual, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to take initiative, organize tasks, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, ensuring deadlines are met with attention to detail. 
  • Skilled in building strong, trusting relationships to gain support and achieve desired outcomes. 
  • Capable of managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously. 
  • Experience working in an environment with international objectives. 
  • Flexible and able to engage with individuals at all levels with strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience with cost accounting and project-based accounting, preferred.  
  • Familiarity with other ERP systems used in government contracting, preferred. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.

THE SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $80,000-$101,000
