We are searching for enthusiastic science, production, development and electronics engineering undergraduates looking for industry internships or placements in an exciting, progressive Cambridgeshire business making ground-breaking advancements in graphene-based electronics technologies.Paragraf is leading the way in graphene electronics, specialising in the deposition of high purity 2D graphene and its incorporation into ready to use devices. Our patented, contamination free method of manufacturing graphene at scale delivers game changing opportunities to transform electronics with massive improvements in the performance of technologies across all aspects of life.Our company mission is to deliver significantly improved, more accessible technologies in application spaces ranging from medical science through to green, renewable energy, bringing the benefits of graphene to all.  We are searching for people who are driven by the idea of achieving what is currently out of reach, passionate about delivering science and technology that will enrich society.

You’ll be working on projects that really matter and will make a difference, these can range from supporting our various research teams through to our production operation.

Role Responsibilities


Research Roles


Providing experimental support across a range of projects, including

  • Conducting material characterisation measurements using AFM and Raman
  • Hall test measurements
  • Chemical exposure and heat tests
  • Manufacture of devices
  • Defect density measurements
  • Analysis of results and trends
  • Ad hoc experimental work

Presentation of results through completion of slides and verbal feedback at technology meetingsGeneral upkeep of equipment and liaising along with facilities team for larger maintenance workEnsuring communication flow of information across the project teams.Technical research through the review of literature, and communication of findings.Management of lab consumables, including stock inventory, ordering, distribution and contact with external suppliersCompletion of records of invention (ROI’s) and lessons learnt documentation.Completion of standard operating procedures (SOP’s).Completion of COSHH forms for new on-site chemicals.Provide training to new joiners on equipment and experimental techniques.

Electronics or production roles:


Design experiments and collect and analyse process data to aid optimisation of equipmentDesign, build & operate mechanical and electrical test systemsRigorously test electronic devices and their designs including environmental, lifetime, EMC and safety testingUndertake prototyping, test and debugging of designs and products using industry standard test equipmentMonitor all processes to prevent correct equipment malfunctionTake a thorough, hands-on experimental approach to trouble shooting problems and issues and help develop and progress solutionsGenerate and implement test plans for projects and report on progress, findings and deliverables as well as provide recommendations for next steps.Work with other teams to ensure projects progress to scheduleClosing date for applications is Wednesday 30th April.

Requirements


Undergraduate in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electronics Engineering and Computer Science.Superb oral and written communication skills.Must be proactive, organised, detail oriented and demonstrate accuracy and consistencyAbility to organise own workload.Strong team player.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Strong Microsoft Office skills and experienceWe can give you an exciting opportunity to join the Paragraf Team on an industrial placement, which will give you an opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside diverse and highly skilled experts in their field, supporting you to achieve key deliverables and develop your own skills and knowledge.

The placement will be fully integrated with your university requirements to ensure you gain the most value possible from your experience with us.
