As a Logistics Manager for Direct Chassis Link you will be a member of the logistics operations team. Overall responsibility for managing the chassis fleet in your assigned markets and potentially other markets that you would need to cover as backup. Development of processes for exception/issues including, but not limited to:
  • Logistics/Analytics
  • Chassis gains and drains
  • Migration analysis
  • Inventory Reconciliation
  • Idle Equipment Management
  • Volume forecasting
  • Demand/Safety Stock triggers in your market(s)
  • DCLI market share position in your market(s)

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manage chassis fleet for the assigned geographic region ensuring that chassis availability meets demands of the region and ensuring timely service levels.
  • Address any requests regarding chassis needs and work to provide supply solutions to motor carriers/rails/ocean carriers.
  • Establish service level and cost targets. Monitor and control costs for assigned regions.
  • Propose solutions to senior management to improve service, process, and/or savings opportunities based on monitoring the assigned region for the below (reported to senior management weekly):
  • Cost savings
  • Unbudgeted expenses
  • Service failures
  • Chassis repositioning moves i.e. action plan(s)
  • Sales/deliveries and idle equipment
  • Monitoring and of idle equipment
  • OOS levels/concerns
  • Demand/ Safety Stock triggers in your market(s)
  • DCLI market share position in your market(s)

  • Support, challenge and drive business excellence and business change within the organization.
  • Monitor reposition work orders to ensure cost-effectiveness and optimal value, providing weekly progress reports.
  • Work closely with the RepoLink team and/or brokers as needed to reposition chassis within or intermarket.
  • Track, confirm, and validate the timely completion of work orders to ensure accurate expense reporting and proper coverage.
  • There will be times when work outside of scheduled work hours is required (i.e., After 5pm, weekends, and some holidays). Comp time provided on DCLI approved Holidays.
  • Build long lasting relationships with customers (Ocean Carriers, CYs, Motor Carriers and Rail Yards/Terminals).
  • Prepare, recommend, and implement administrative tasks on an ad hoc basis when needed.
  • Responsible for market research to identify current trends and use statistical and analytical tools to predict future trends and patterns which could affect DCLI. 
  • Investigate and propose technological solutions to improve various work processes at DCLI.
  • Understand Terms and Conditions of Lease, drayage, and Container yard contracts.
  • Develop and/or edit standard operating procedures (SOP’s) pertaining to the respective market(s).        
  • Maintain communication and relationships with M&R and the DCLI management team (managers in other regions).
  • Liaise with the commercial team and other business units to promote working relationships and common goals
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and a sense of urgency.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years related industry experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal as required to both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Strong Excel skills desired but training is available).
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Supports a team approach to achieving organizational objectives and promotes a positive work environment
  • Self-sufficient and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and schedule own work with input from supervisor
  • Great attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
