Job Description


The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures to support data-driven decision-making. This role involves developing ETL/ELT processes, optimizing data storage and retrieval, and ensuring data quality, security, and integrity. The engineer works closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to integrate data from multiple sources and enable efficient data processing. Additionally, they will implement best practices for data governance, performance tuning, and automation while staying up to date with emerging data technologies and methodologies. Key Responsibilities:

  • Onsite in Manassas, VA. 

  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable data pipelines and data architectures to support strategic, data-driven decision-making across the organization. 

  • Provide expert recommendations to customers on best practices for ETL/ELT processes, data storage optimization, and retrieval strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability. 

  • Oversee the integration of data from multiple sources, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure seamless data flow and processing. 

  • Architect data solutions that prioritize data quality, security, and integrity, ensuring compliance with governance standards. 

  • Lead initiatives for performance tuning, automation, and the implementation of data governance frameworks to enhance data processing efficiency. 

  • Stay ahead of emerging data technologies and methodologies, continuously evaluating and integrating relevant innovations into the data architecture. 

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering best practices in data engineering and promoting continuous learning within the team. 

Qualifications


  • Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance. 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, with expertise in ETL/ELT processes and data integration. 

  • Strong proficiency in optimizing data storage, retrieval, and performance, ensuring data quality, security, and integrity. 

  • Proven leadership in guiding data engineering projects, mentoring teams, and providing strategic recommendations to customers. 

  • In-depth knowledge of data governance best practices and compliance standards. 

  • Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data processing tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop).
