We are looking for a Chartering Manager to join our team to assist in managing the logistics of our bulk liquid cargo business with a focus on ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective shipping solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chartering & Freight Negotiations:
- Assist in the chartering process for the transportation of bulk liquid chemicals, including the identification and selection of vessels.
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts of affreightment in line with the company’s shipping strategy and market conditions.
- Handle charter parties and freight contracts, ensuring all terms are compliant with legal, operational, and safety standards.
- Logistics & Operations Oversight:
- Coordinate with internal teams (such as trading, logistics, and operations) to ensure seamless execution of voyages and mitigate operational risks.
- Supervise and track vessels' performance during voyages, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety standards, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Market Intelligence & Reporting:
- Monitor and analyze the shipping market trends and freight rates for chemicals and ensure the company remains competitive.
- Provide regular updates and reports on market conditions, fleet performance, and shipping costs.
- Risk & Compliance Management:
- Ensure full compliance with international maritime laws, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vessel owners, port agents, and other key stakeholders in the shipping industry.
- Collaborate with the wider trading, commercial, and finance teams to enhance shipping efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in chartering, ship brokerage, or related shipping operations, with a focus on bulk liquid cargoes such as chemicals, CPP, or palm oils.
- Proven track record in negotiating charter parties, managing chartering operations, and optimizing vessel allocation.
- Strong understanding of the global shipping market and its impact on commodity trading.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- Additional certifications or qualifications in shipping and logistics are a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and other shipping software tools.
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Languages:
- Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken)
- Cultural & Regional Experience:
- Familiarity with the Chinese market and the ability to navigate its business environment.
- Ability to work on an international and multi-cultural team.
