Overview of the Role:


Responsible for the sourcing, negotiation, and program management of specified commodities, materials, tolling services, or components identified in a manner that aligns with company strategic objectives. Interacts with product managers, executives, and outside stakeholders to establish supply chain strategies and carry out productivity initiatives consistent with the growth objectives of the Woodstream organization.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


  • Execute sourcing strategies and policies to ensure achievement of all business objectives and perform appropriate negotiations with all suppliers.
  • Research the global commodities market to anticipate and report on shifts in commodity prices that might impact supplier costs either negatively or positively.
  • Become a subject matter expert on product bill of material content to help establish a baseline of product material cost prior to final price negotiation.
  • Negotiate with vendors on payment terms, MOQ’s, volume price breaks, and final cost of all products and/or materials, recommending ways to reduce costs of components and labor to ensure targets are consistently met.
  • Prepare non-disclosure agreements for various new potential sources.
  • Collaboratively work with product marketing teams and engineers on NPD projects and manage and review all supplier RFQ’s on assigned projects.
  • Maintain existing supplier contracts stocking programs and evaluate supplier performance according to specified agreements and purchase order delivery schedule.   
  • Administer all commodity sourcing activities and coordinate with sourcing team to consolidate processes and suppliers where multiple vendors exist.
  • Ensure the dual sourcing strategy is accomplished for key strategic commodities and services.
  • Analyze Woodstream factory requirements and prepare appropriate contracts and services are in place for all purchased materials.
  • Provide custom strategic sourcing analytics as requested to various business executives.

Other Functions:


  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Successful Candidate Profile:


  • Bachelor of Science, or equivalent 4-year college degree
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Commodity, Component, or Finished Goods Sourcing or Procurement based activities.
  • Skilled at financial analysis and reporting
  • Experience with AS-400, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent MRP/ERP systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, Project Management, and PowerPoint
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, process and analytical skills.
  • Flexible team player.
  • Quick learner, independent thinker.
