Vehicle Integration Designer

VEHICLE INTEGRATION DESIGNER - El Segundo, CAAs a Vehicle Integration Design engineer, you will be responsible for managing the top level vehicle model, placing LRUs and managing interfaces, determining routing locations, managing the mass/CG tables. Additionally the role includes working with the vehicle to ensure accuracy of model and any workarounds needed. This position will work closely with a cross functional team, working directly with Software, Hardware Engineering, Test, Supply Chain, Quality Engineering Teams and Technicians.

The Job scope will include developing processes, working in a team environment, identifying and designing the build of necessary equipment for receipt and final integration, and launch of Skyryse One and other platforms.  RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and design high-level vehicle architecture 
  • Manage interfaces and keep out zones across the vehicle for various LRUs 
  • Compile mass properties of Skyryse One components  
  • Maintain integrated planning documents that are inclusive of Skyryse One configurations and work scope.
  • Work with cabling team to route cabling throughout the vehicle to ensure safe interconnectivity
  • Verify the flight vehicle matches the models and work any conflicts with the approrpiate teams
  • Design aricraft brackets as needed to support additional hardware 
  • Closely collaborate with management staff and peers from other departments and highly skilled technicians on daily routine

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 7+ years of professional working experience in a full cycle mechanical engineering role
  • Experience with retrofitting an existing vehicle
  • Experience with structural static analysis (hand calculations and FEA)
  • Experience with common aerospace materials, finishes, and processes
  • Familiarity with static, fatigue, shock and vibration analysis
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • Hands on build experience 
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stackup analysis.
  • Knowledge of harness requirements for routing. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in personally taking parts through final production release
  • 10+ years of professional working experience
  • High proficiency with Solidworks CAD and FEA packages
  • Hands on experience working on a vehicle retrofit
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design
