You oversee cross-functional teams, optimize processes, and implement data-driven strategies to enhance performance and resilience. Your expertise spans Enterprise Security, Cloud Security, Vulnerability Management, tracking rates of change, and modern development practices to ensure scalable and secure solutions across all facets of the organization.

Key Responsibilities


  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute initiatives that align with organizational goals, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Enterprise Security: Own and manage risk across infrastructure and laboratory environments, ensuring compliance, safety, and security best practices.
  • Cloud Security: Own and manage risk across multi-cloud footprint, implementing cloud security practices that align with business objectives while ensuring compliance, scalability, and resilience.
  • Risk & Vulnerability Management: Develop and oversee security frameworks that proactively address threats across physical, operational, and cloud-based assets.
  • Operational Efficiency: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize processes, mitigate risks, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices to streamline operations, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance overall performance.
  • CI/CD & Agile Methodology: Operate effectively in environments that leverage CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies, ensuring seamless integration, rapid iteration, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to implement best practices and drive organizational success.
  • Team Development: Build, mentor, and foster a high-performing team of both people leaders and individual contributors, creating an environment of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Executive Reporting: Provide insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis and market trends.

Qualifications & Skills


  • Proven leadership with 10-15+ years of experience with a focus on Enterprise Security, Cloud Security, risk management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Security, including physical infrastructure and security best practices.
  • Expertise in Cloud Security, including cloud security models, compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27017).
  • Experience working in environments that leverage CI/CD pipelines and Agile development practices.
  • Expertise in vulnerability management, risk assessment, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to track and analyze rates of change to support proactive decision-making.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience


  • Previous experience in enterprise security operations
  • Experience working with large-scale data analysis and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements for cloud security, enterprise security, and laboratory environments.

The expected salary range below is applicable if the role is performed from [Illinois] and may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits, depending on the position.Illinois Pay Range$210,000—$270,000 USDWe are an equal opportunity employer.
