About the Opportunity
The Associate Director, Fund Development plays a critical role in supporting the operations of the fund development team while managing a high-value portfolio of corporate and government grants. This position ensures the seamless execution of fundraising activities, oversees key processes related to grant applications and reporting, and aligns departmental strategies with organizational goals. Additionally, the Associate Director serves as a key liaison between internal teams and external funders, ensuring compliance, impact measurement, and sustained funding relationships.
This role also supports the Director in developing and implementing fundraising strategies that advance TechTown’s mission and long-term sustainability.The Impact You Will Make:

- Supports Director on strategy, operations, and communications planning
What You Will Bring to the Table:
· The expertise necessary to manage a portfolio valued at $1,000,000 annually· The ability to judge which topics need to be elevated to director level· Decision-making skills that advance departmental goals and objectives· The skill to contextualize gaps in service or ecosystem with the goal to generate support to address· Expert-level verbal and written communication skills that can adapt to internal and external constituencies· The ability to lead team meetings or stand-in for director when appropriate
Key roles and responsibilities:
· Manage a large portfolio of key corporate and government stakeholders, ensuring strong relationships, strategic alignment, and long-term funding sustainability.· Lead high-value solicitations, including preparing compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to secure major corporate and government grants.· Oversee grant and funding proposal processes, including coordination with finance, programs, and MarComm teams to ensure alignment with funder priorities and compliance with reporting requirements.· Play a key role in shaping and executing the fund development communications strategy, working closely with MarComm to develop messaging that resonates with donors and funders.· Support the operational effectiveness of the fund development department, ensuring smooth processes, data-driven decision-making, and efficiency in fundraising efforts.· Maintain awareness of TechTown’s relationship with Wayne State University and its key funders, collaborating with WSU colleagues to maximize funding opportunities.· Serve as an advocate for TechTown’s mission and values in all donor and stakeholder engagements.· Other duties as assigned by the Director.
