Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Install, terminate, pull, and test copper cables (Cat5e, Cat6) and fiber optic cables in healthcare environments.
- Perform cable management and rack clean-up to ensure safe and organized systems.
- Test and troubleshoot a variety of media/cable types using Fluke testers and other diagnostic equipment.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital-specific regulations while working in sensitive environments (e.g., patient rooms, operating rooms, data centers).
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and proper documentation on hospital job sites.
- Collaborate with hospital IT teams and project managers to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations.
- Submit required documentation, including as-built drawings, test results, and compliance checklists.
- Assist with all aspects of the project as directed by the Site Superintendent, Project Manager, or Operational Management Team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience installing low-voltage cabling (Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic cables).
- Proficiency in punch downs, terminations, cable pulling, and testing.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings for structured cabling projects.
- Strong customer service skills and professionalism, especially in a healthcare setting.
- Must be able to pass a post-offer drug screen, physical, background check, and California Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan fingerprint criminal check.
- Candidates must meet all hospital health compliance requirements, including COVID-19 vaccination, annual flu shots, TB screening, and other immunizations as mandated by California healthcare regulations.
- Must have a reliable vehicle that can accommodate a 6’ ladder and transportation of tools.
- Must have own tools and PPE, including OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Willingness to work evening shifts (starting at approximately 2:30 PM) to accommodate hospital operational needs.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, reach, climb, and work in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience terminating and testing fiber optic cabling.
- Experience using Fluke or similar testing equipment.
- Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment with knowledge of infection control practices.
- BICSI Installer Certification (Level 1 or 2) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and secure data cabling standards for healthcare environments.
Compensation Range:
