About Density:

Density’s mission is to measure and improve our footprint on the world. We help companies understand how their workplaces are used. We do that by observing behavior in the office through our highly accurate and always anonymous sensors. In other words: where are people actually spending their time? We translate that data into actionable, opinionated insights that help companies increase the financial and experiential performance of any workplace. Today, we work with companies from Fortune 500s to high growth innovators in technology, financial services and healthcare, occupying more than a billion square feet worldwide.

And we’re in it for the long game: what if we knew more, created better spaces, and could build cities that worked and felt better? That’s where you come in...

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a talented Radar Firmware Engineer to help us build one of the most advanced people sensing systems in the world. We build sensors and supporting software systems which anonymously and accurately measure the way people occupy and use space.  Our sensors use phased array radar systems and sophisticated algorithms to measure the location of people over time, allowing our customers to optimize how much space they build or rent and how well they use the buildings they are already occupying.  You will build the low level radar processing algorithms responsible for improving fundamental radar performance, ultimately responsible for a low-noise, high quality point cloud.

In this role you will:

  • Perform hands-on testing to optimize key performance metrics like target separation, positional accuracy.
  • Ensure our radar processing and firmware are stable and robust, running smoothly on the embedded processing hardware.
  • Define performance criteria for manufacturing partners to ensure that every unit built and shipped to customers is performing with high quality.
  • Influence and help define next-generation hardware as we build more and more capable sensors

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years experience in a Radar Firmware/DSP engineer or equivalent role
  • Hands-on experience optimizing a multi-target, phased array radar system
  • Strong software development skills in C/C++, able to set up and maintain a CI pipeline including unit tests for embedded FW within a larger system.
  • Experience working in small form factor devices with limited power budget and compute capability
  • Strong writing skills; ability to craft clear and concise documentation
  • Ability to drive cross functional teams of peers to build complex systems and features

Job Compensation Range:

Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000Preferred Primary Location: San Francisco

This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum in office 4 days a week in office in SF: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
