Product Developer - Softgoods

BellroyOnsite

IN A NUTSHELL

At Bellroy, we work hard to create products that make our customers’ lives easier, last a long time, and stay true to their purpose. Guided by a design philosophy focused on simplicity and balance between form and function, our product development team is essential to bringing our ideas to life and setting them up for successful manufacturing. We’re searching for a Product Developer who can turn design visions into practical, production-ready realities. In this role, you’ll work hands-on to refine, test, and prototype our designs.

Whether in-house or with external suppliers, you’ll troubleshoot, adjust, and adapt until everything transitions smoothly to full-scale production. If you bring strong product development expertise, a drive for improvement, and an appreciation for thoughtful design, you’ll find a supportive team, the tools to elevate your skills, and a culture that values collaboration, resilience, and continuous learning.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…

  • 2-4 years experience in a similar role, demonstrating clear tenure in product development (ideally specialising in soft goods, apparel or accessories)
  • Experience in the Adobe Suite, particularly InDesign and Illustrator (essential)
  • Familiarity with Adobe cloud-based software, Excel and software/technology in general
  • Serious nous around the manufacturing process and technical drawing
  • Extensive testing knowledge and supplier prototyping management
  • A strong desire to learn, grow and adapt to shifting environments

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK YOU MIGHT HAVE…

  • Discussed a new design concept with the Design team and thought about the process to execute their vision
  • Managed the development process from design handover to bulk production, ensuring timelines are met
  • Conducted product testing and provided clear and concise feedback to suppliers
  • Coordinated with factories to maintain sample schedules and delivery timelines, taking proactive measures to ensure on-time delivery
  • Created a production book or technical drawings to share with suppliers
  • Identified why a production issue may be arising and brainstormed solutions to fix it
  • Worked with your manager to update some existing products in our range to improve quality and durability

Life at Bellroy

Bellroy puts its heart, soul and countless design hours into helping the world carry with greater simplicity and ease. Every piece has been deeply considered to help you get the best of life's little moments. In the early 2000s, as slim tailoring became popular, bulky wallets couldn't hide anymore. So, a team of product designers and creatives (who also happened to be friends) sat around a kitchen table in Bells Beach, Australia, to design a slim wallet with fewer layers of leather and better card positioning. The release of this product in 2010 signaled the birth of the Bellroy brand, and we've come a fair way since then... We recognized pretty early on that we could use business as a force for good. So, as a certified B Corp, we constantly pursue better ways to source our leathers, reduce our impact on the environment and make sure our products last as long as possible. Our range of carry goods has moved beyond pockets and includes solutions for your tech, work accessories and more - right down to the humble set of keys. Because as long as there are things to carry through our lives, we want to find better ways to store, protect and carry them. bellroy.com twitter.com/bellroy facebook.com/carrybellroy instagram.com/bellroy medium/bellroy
