Gather business requirements and design data structures to support MicroStrategy reporting needs for multiple clients.
- Work closely with AGDATA teams to gather the business requirements for new reports or enhancements, and ensure questions are answered regarding MicroStrategy developments and implementations.
- Discuss business and functional requirements with clients and other related AGDATA teams to effectively meet business requirements.
- Identify, design, develop, and test short-term and long-term BI solutions; work with necessary parties to develop flexible and scalable solutions while keeping best practices in mind.
- Coordinate with project managers and evaluate the priorities for all assigned tasks.
- Design dimensional data models to support ongoing and new reporting initiatives through data analysis and data discovery.
- Design, develop, optimize, maintain, and support ETL processes using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and stored procedures.
- Write SQL queries to extract data from related sources and analyze data to support dashboards and reporting.
Utilize MicroStrategy Tools for development, data visualization, and data analysis.
- Produce dynamic data driven analytic solutions to support the strategic goals of the company.
- Utilize various tools in the MicroStrategy Product suite (Developer, Workstation, Architect, Web, Library, Object Manager, Enterprise Manager, System Manager, Command Manager) and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Provide thought leadership and hands-on involvement in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of MicroStrategy objects and reports.
- Architect MicroStrategy schema objects: Attributes, Facts, and Logical Tables.
- Develop MicroStrategy public objects: Metrics (Conditional & Level), Filters, Prompts, Custom Groups, and Consolidations.
- Design and develop Reports, Report Service Documents (RSDs), and Dashboards.
- Develop complex Report Service Documents (RSDs) with conditional logic, thresholds, extensive formatting, high attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and debug reporting data issues including performance, security, stability, data modelling, and data integrity. Investigate and provide workarounds as applicable.
- Investigate data issues in SQL, stored procedures, and jobs to identify root cause and provide resolution.
- Write SQL queries for advanced reporting requests and to improve automation of data requests.
- Develop solutions to continually improve reporting efficiencies, load times, and performance-tuning.
Administer and maintain MicroStrategy software across multiple environments.
- Utilize administrative tools for user access management, Object Manager for migration and deployments, Command Manager for manual task automation, Platform Analytics for system usage analysis, Distribution Services for report delivery, and System Manager for workflow management.
- Provide production support for MicroStrategy analytics applications by resolution of issues in a timely manner.
- Evaluate and test new features of MicroStrategy before they are rolled out to end users.
- Maintain effective documentation on analytics and reporting solutions.
