Job Title: Mechantronics Engineer ILocation: Kennedy Space Center, FLSUMMARY
Exciting opportunity for a Mechantronics Engineer I. You will provide engineering support for design, build, and test of mechanical and control systems in the KSC Swampworks. The Granular Mechanics and Regolith Operations lab focuses on designing robotic systems for use on the Lunar and Martian surfaces.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- 0 to 5 years of related experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- CREO – or transferrable skills in another CAD package.
- ROS - Coding skills and ideally some experience with the Robotic Operating System (ROS).
- LABVIEW - and experience with Data Acquisition and Control systems.
- “Maker” skills including 3D printing, hand tool familiarity, soldering, machine shop experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build, program, and operate robotic equipment with the ROS framework
- Use CAD software to design robotic components and test equipment
- Develop LabVIEW capabilities to collect test data and provide test automation
- Use your knowledge of 3D printing and maker skills to build, fix, assemble, and solve problems
