Job Summary:Agronomix Software, a leading software development company specializing in plant breeding and agronomy, is seeking a full-time, permanent Breeding Software Professional.


You will join a team of professionals based in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, supporting and developing our software used in over forty countries worldwide by plant breeders and agronomists at seed companies, universities, and government research centers. This role will focus on our all-new software application, GENOVIX.Responsibilities: As part of the support team, you will interact with plant breeders worldwide daily, providing technical assistance to those who use our software for running breeding and variety testing programs for many different crops and breeding programs.

You will collaborate with the company's software development team to enhance the GENOVIX software application for plant breeding and variety testing. Additionally, you may assist in software implementation, quality control and release testing, and provide online or in-person training for our clients, which may involve international travel.

Job Description:


Desired Skills and Qualifications:


  • BSc in Plant Breeding / Plant Science / Crop Science / Agricultural Genetics / Agronomy, or related fields with MSc or PhD preferred.
  • A strong combination of academic qualifications, such as a bachelor's degree in plant sciences, Genetics, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of practical experience, will be highly valued.
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience in plant breeding, genetics, or a related agricultural field is required, ensuring a solid foundation of expertise and practical knowledge that will serve as an asset in this role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential for handling calls, responding to emails, and leading meetings.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience in experimental design and statistics, with field research experience.
  • Knowledge of plant breeding and experience in a conventional plant breeding program.
  • Teaching or training experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of R coding development, including R statistical and data visualization packages, is an asset.
  • Strong relational, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Remuneration:

Salary is commensurate with the applicant's knowledge and experience. The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
