About the Founder Initiatives work and team:


The foundation oversees a large portfolio of Founder Initiatives projects, programs, and grants. These efforts include West Creek Ranch, Basecamp and Challenge Course programming in Montanawhere this role is based.This position will support Montana Programs as part of the Founder Initiatives team, reporting to the Challenge Course and Basecamp Manager.  As a key member of the foundation team, the Challenge Course and Basecamp Assistant Manager will assist in oversight, management and maintenance of operations at AMB West Challenge Course and Basecamp.The primary role of this position is facilitation of Challenge Course activities.

Assistant Manager will plan and deliver activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to participants of all ages and abilities. The role will also support the property management at Basecamp facility use which includes the orientation and oversight of user groups along with the general maintenance of grounds and buildings.The schedule is full-time, seasonal, and up to 50 hours/week, with varying work weeks starting at the end of April through October. Weekend and overnight availability of up to three nights per week to be on call is necessary, with long days expected, especially throughout June, July and August. Housing and shift meals are available. Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow standard and local operating procedures for all aspects of the Challenge Course

  • Provide peer mentorship for advancing Challenge Course facilitators as appropriate

  • Know and follow emergency response procedures with the ability to lead response in an emergency situation

  • Assist in oversight of equipment use, maintainaccurate inventories, and resupply

  • Inspection, maintenance and upkeep of the challenge course, grounds, equipment and facilities

  • Identify and report potential risks/ hazards related to the operation

  • Ensure first aid equipment is available and in good repair

  • Assist in the set-up and implementation of other activities as assigned 

  • Assist in maintenance and oversight of Basecamp property grounds and buildings

  • Provide oversite of maintenance or landscaping with peers

  • Assist with realignment and re-tasking of Basecamp facilities to best meet nonprofit use

  • Maintain communication and support for Basecamp user groups while they are on-site, ensuring a high-quality experience

  • Lead debriefs and work with other staff to create a safe, fun and enjoyable workplace

  • Document usage of facilities in accordance with established Local Operating Procedures

  • Work independently on turnover of Basecamp facilities in between guest groups

Qualifications:

  • A strong desire to contribute to the mission of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to act independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Prior challenge course facilitation experience required

  • Excellent leadership and facilitation skills required

  • Level 1 or 2 challenge course practitioner preferred, training maybe provided 

  • Current certifications in First Aid and CPR, Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid preferred.

  • Ability to design curriculum to specific groups needs

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences. Working collaboratively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization, as well as the general public.

  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail

  • Able to assess and diffuse difficult situations and work effectively under pressure to deliver results in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working with all ages, from youthto executive leadership teams 

  • Comfortable using computer including Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment

  • Subject to criminal and motor vehicle background check

  • Be in excellent physical health with the ability to handle physical aspects of operating equipment, conducting safety rescues, assisting participants and ability to stand, sit, walk, lift heavy equipment, etc. up to 8 hours/shift

  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays and nights with flexibility that may require significant work early or late in the day, including being on-site and available to clients up to 3 nights/week.

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum 100 daysof facilitation experience

  • Minimum 5recorded training days on high and/ low elements, technical skills, or facilitation

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Handyperson, property management experience preferred
