Job Description:


We are looking for a Product Designer to join our team to contribute directly to delivering transformative Human-Centered Design (HCD) digital products and services. 

This position is contingent upon the availability of funding once the project is awarded. The role may be subject to change or cancellation based on financial conditions.


Basic Requirements:


  • Ability to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation.  
  • Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States.  
  • Must have lived in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 
  • 5 or more years in a product designer role or combination of strategy, research, and design. 

Additional Qualifications:


  • Proven expertise in User Experience (UX), Customer Experience (CX), Service Design, and HCD. 
  • Experience in collaborating with clients, business stakeholders, engineers, and analysts to guide product vision and strategy by uncovering research-based UX, CX, and Service Design insights. 
  • Deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) and how it applies to the work.   
  • Excellent understanding of various design frameworks, methods, and workflows and when to use them in creating human-centered solutions. 
  • Experience in generating design outputs such as journey maps, service blueprints, user flows, wire frames, prototypes, research read outs.  
  • Experience building with and working with design systems in Figma. 
  • Experience in designing usable, accessible, and empowering B2B and B2C services and products.  
  • Experience working with FedTech and Civic Tech preferred.  
  • Preference for those with experience around usability and building 508-compliant web applications.  
  • A portfolio showcasing broad strategy, research, design and competencies. 

Responsibilities:


  • Meet with Product Owners, Team Leads, and other HX Team members to review scope, goals, activities, and deliverables for HCD activities, research, strategy, and design. 
  • Contribute to research and strategy in planning, facilitation, analysis, synthesis and reporting. 
  • Contribute to UX Design, Interaction Design (IXD), and Visual Design. 
  • Ability to create a range of research and design artifacts to illuminate and identify insights capable of driving product and service design decisions. 
  • Design prototypes and interactions from low to mid-fidelity. 
  • Participate in agile ceremonies as an active contributor.  
  • Contribute to writing Jira tickets to ensure clarity, accountability, and alignment in the work you and your teammates are completing actively communicating blockers or impediments. 
  • Proactively review and understand existing products, environment, eco-system, information architecture, and key user workflows.   
  • Review product analytics, customer service data and other sources to understand patterns, personas and key usage scenarios.   
  • Work with UI developers to build and manage design assets, style guides and design fidelity in the implemented application.   
  • Help team and agency stakeholders by providing insightful documentation that is accessible to broader audiences.   
  • Collaborate with researchers, designers and other team members.

Public TrustClearance:This role requires the hired candidate to go through public trust clearance. A minimum of 3 years of stay in the U.S. within the last 5 years is required to be eligible to qualify for public trust clearance sponsorship. WorkLocation:We have open-collaboration offices in Leesburg, VA, Arlington, VA, and Baltimore, MD for those who may prefer to work on-site. However, Softrams, a Tria Federal Company, is a 100% remote-first team environment and works in the eastern time zone.
