Engineering Manager - ESC

Pulumi is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our
ESC (Environments, Secrets, and Configuration) team. This team focuses on delivering innovative, secure, and scalable solutions for secrets management, configuration, and security within Pulumi’s Cloud platform. This role blends technical leadership, customer empathy, and team development to drive Pulumi’s vision of simplifying the cloud for developers.Your work will directly impact how organizations securely manage sensitive data, access credentials, and cryptographic keys at scale, safeguarding our users and partners.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will collaborate across engineering, product, and security teams to build cutting-edge solutions in cloud-native environments.While Pulumi is headquartered in Seattle, WA., we are dedicated to being a remote-first company.

Key Responsibilities:


Team Leadership and Development:


  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team focused on secrets management, configuration, and security.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative culture that prioritizes team ownership, customer focus, and growth.
  • Provide career development opportunities and conduct regular performance reviews to support team member growth.

Product and Technical Strategy:


  • Work closely with product management, design, and other engineering leaders to define and execute the ESC roadmap.
  • Align the team’s efforts with Pulumi’s broader security and developer experience goals.
  • Drive the development of secure, reliable, and user-friendly features that solve complex infrastructure and security challenges for developers.

Operational Excellence:


  • Ensure the team delivers high-quality, well-tested, and scalable systems that integrate seamlessly with the Pulumi ecosystem.
  • Advocate for customer-centric development by incorporating user feedback and telemetry into planning and decision-making.
  • Lead by example in technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural design processes when needed.

Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing high-performing, inclusive teams.
  • Strong technical background in security products, developer tooling, or cloud infrastructure, with a deep understanding of secrets management or encryption.
  • Experience delivering customer-focused, secure software solutions at scale.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and clearly convey technical concepts and product vision.
  • Familiarity with modern Infrastructure as Code practices and tools is a plus.

Compensation:


  • Base Salary Hiring Range: $180,500 - $227,850
  • All full-time employee offers at Pulumi include base salary, bonus or variable, equity and benefits (details below).
