Position Overview
The OSP Maintenance Manager is tasked with managing maintenance of the fiber optic network assets within Texas. The OSP Maintenance Manager will be responsible for estimating and controlling all expense projects, supervising the Fiber Maintenance Technicians related to the maintenance of conduit, fiber optic cable and related equipment. Training subordinates on the proper use of our internal workflow system, as well as insuring proper “redlines” for both OSP Construction & Splicing is mandatory.
“Trouble Management” reporting, emergency restoration / disaster recovery and general contractor and other vendor related duties are required. The OSP Maintenance Manager will serve as the single point of contact for all OSP Maintenance activities across Texas. This includes responding to and managing all outages; coordinating resources to ensure FiberLight’s assets are restored safely, efficiently and effectively.Essential Job Functions
- Manage and maintain fiber network to achieve company and customer satisfaction
- Supervise activities of all subordinates, develop their work schedules and training
- Experience in managing groups in remote areas
- Assist marketing, sales, business, and engineering by providing technical guidance
- Budget & expense management, cost estimating, Trouble Management tracking
- Provide back-office support by utilizing 3GIS / FMS to pinpoint outages based on ISP, NOC, or Customer-provided OTDR readings
Requirements
- 10 years of Telecom OSP Construction Management
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with experience managing internal & external resources
- Fiber Splicing: testing & isolation
- Proficient w/PCs, Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, etc)
- Current valid driver’s license
- Travel throughout Texas
Other Skills/Abilities
- Ability to understand mapping programs and key identifiers in a fiber optic network, read and utilize GPS units and record network positioning.
- Strong negotiations skills as we continue to streamline our OSP vendor list.
- Knowledge of “Call Before You Dig” rules and regulations as they apply to a network utility provider.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations as they apply to locating and providing repair and maintenance within a fiber optic network.
