The OpenSSF Securing Repositories Working Group focuses on improving the security of open-source software repositories by developing best practices, policies, and tools to address security challenges and vulnerabilities in the software supply chain.

Job Description


The OpenSSF Securing Repositories Working Group is seeking a technical writer to create guidance on when to allow a previously published package to be deleted from software repositories. This guidance will be published on the working group's website and will help other repositories who take on this problem in the future.

Milestones will include documentation for:


The technical writer will be responsible for researching existing policies, drafting guidance, and responding to community feedback. They will also need to create a pull request in the working group's GitHub repository and merge it once it has been reviewed and approved.

Reporting:


Contractor will report to Linux Foundation Staff and to any other party designated by them in connection with the performance of the duties under this Agreement and shall fulfill any other duties reasonably requested in writing by LF and agreed to by Contractor.

Qualifications


  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience with open-source projects and repositories.
  • Knowledge of software package management and repository policies.
  • Research and analysis skills to evaluate existing policies.
  • Proficiency with GitHub, including creating and merging pull requests.
  • Ability to collaborate with and respond to community feedback.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Additional Information


Term: This engagement shall be 2 months   Salary $4,000 USD
