Position Summary:
Collegis Education is seeking an experienced Banner Systems Analyst with over five years of experience working in higher education or providing consulting services to higher education institutions, specializing in Ellucian Banner® and other ERP/SIS systems. This role combines both technical expertise and functional oversight to ensure the optimal performance, stability, and availability of the ERP and related applications, including Banner 9, ESM, ETHOS, Degree Works, ODS, EDW, Workflow, BDMS, UC4, and BEP.
The Banner Systems Analyst will be responsible for assessing, recommending, implementing, and supporting solutions to meet evolving business needs, with a focus on data integrity, system efficiency, and providing comprehensive support to users. This role requires a proactive approach to continuous service improvement and a commitment to delivering high-quality support for both functional and technical system components.
Primary Responsibilities, Essential Functions and Requirements:
- Analyze, define, document, and implement solutions to support, enhance, and integrate with the ERP (Banner), including systems like ESM, ETHOS, Degree Works, ODS, EDW, Workflow, BDMS, UC4, and BEP, while addressing requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, system environments, and interfaces.
- Assist ERP/SIS users with the effective use of the Banner system, providing troubleshooting assistance and creating user guides or training materials.
- Collaborate with functional teams and users to monitor and respond to requests for new data integrations, system modifications, and updates.
- Coordinate and manage system upgrades, patches, and vendor updates to keep Banner and its integrations up-to-date.
- Develop, implement, and maintain interfaces between Banner and third-party applications, ensuring seamless data flow and integration.
- Document system configurations, processes, and best practices to ensure redundancy and sustainability of support.
- Enforce information security policies to safeguard the integrity of data within Banner, acting as a data steward to protect sensitive information, minimize risks, and promptly report any security-related issues.
- Lead projects related to the implementation of new features, system upgrades, or procedural changes to meet institutional needs.
- Maintain ERP/SIS related systems and servers, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system performance.
- Provide ongoing technical support for Banner and related applications, troubleshooting issues and resolving both functional and technical challenges.
- Research and evaluate hardware and software solutions to support application development, integration, and system performance within the Banner ERP environment.
- Utilize Shell scripting, such as Bash, in Linux environments to automate tasks, support system administration, and optimize performance for Banner and related systems.
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in system administration and application support within a higher education environment.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, with a thorough understanding of database structures and the ability to write complex queries and resolve issues.
- Competence in Linux environments, including Oracle Linux and Red Hat.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and support third-party applications with Banner® (e.g., TouchNet, Cashnet, Nelnet, Kronos, Evisions Suite, Blackboard, Canvas) to ensure smooth data flow and system maintenance.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and engage with stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, able to quickly diagnose and resolve both functional and technical issues.
- Experience managing support cases with ERP/SIS vendors and internal teams to address and resolve system issues.
- Extensive experience with Ellucian Banner® (including Banner 9 and Self-Service Banner) and related applications.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Solution Manager (ESM), Application Navigator, Ellucian Ethos, and database schemas.
- In-depth knowledge of ERP/SIS batch processes, data flows, and institutional workflows, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.
- Proficient in using reporting and business intelligence tools such as Cognos, Argos, and PowerBI for data analysis and reporting.
- Skilled in managing multiple complex, time-sensitive projects while following established change management processes and guidelines.

- Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, MIS degree, or equivalent experience
