Who You Are:


Partnering closely with our design and packaging engineering teams, we’re looking for a Coordinator, Production Artist to join our creative team based in New York! This creative professional will take our packaging designs through the print and production stages to a finished product. This role will require you to essentially "finalize" designs by ensuring accuracy, formatting, and quality control before publication, often working closely with designers and printer vendors, to prepare artwork for print or digital media by utilizing graphic design software like Adobe Creative Suite.

Key skills include strong attention to detail, excellent typographic and layout abilities, and a thorough understanding of printing processes. A general love for packaging design and excitement for exploring new print techniques and technologies is a must.

Responsibilities: 


  • Clear communication and partnership throughout creative process with Senior Designer(s) and Packaging Engineer(s) to ensure design intent is clear and possible to achieve
  • Serving as the liaison between the internal packaging team and external print production vendors to ensure design intent is clear and achievable
  • Key point of contact with print vendor throughout design and production process
  • Develop quality control standards for each project by requesting color drawdowns and print proof samples from printer, and thus developing physical visual representations of print quality our internal team can expect, and print vendor agrees can be achieved
  • Confirming dielines are accurate with printer, and preparing mechanical artwork, ensuring all elements are sized correctly and laid out accurately, within the printer’s specifications
  • Checking and resizing images to ensure clear print-quality, thoroughly reviewing designs for errors in typography, layout, and image quality, checking for bleed and trim marks, and ensuring files are print-ready
  • Preparing mechanical files for international markets, familiarity with international packaging standards (APAC, EU, EMEA, etc)
  • Meeting with print vendors to investigate innovative new print techniques to bring back to the design team
  • Exploring ways to make packaging more cost effective

Qualifications/Experience:


  • Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other relevant design applications
  • Expertise of various print techniques, including screen printing, labeling, shrink wrap, box design, etc
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to identify and correct even minor design inconsistencies
  • Understanding of print production processes, file formats, and color management
  • Problem-solving abilities: Ability to troubleshoot design issues and find creative solutions 
  • Time management: Meeting deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Communication skills: Effectively collaborating with designers, art directors, and other stakeholders
  • General love of packaging design, excitement for exploring new techniques and technologies and sharing those with the team

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience
