Job Description:
ASG is seeking a Technical Architect in support of the Department of Education FSA office.
What You Will Do:
- Participate in Design Review meetings, take notes and ask questions for further clarification.
- Review design architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
- Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and ISO reference models, and profiles of standards- such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model- as they apply to the implementation and specification of information management solution of the application platform, across the Application Program Interface (API), and the external environment/software application.
- Ensure that the common operating environment is compliant with the Agency enterprise architecture and applicable reference models. Evaluate analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization, and planning and develop appropriate corrective action.
- Review Solution Design Documents and provide comments related to:
o Quality & Completeness of the document.o Technical Gaps & Clarifications.o Share & Review comments with team and customer as needed.Requirements
What We Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Five (5) years of hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise wide or large-scale IT solutions utilizing formal Life Cycle Management Methodologies.
- Understanding of cloud computing (AWS), systems architecture, and IT security.
- Ability to provide oversight and support for technical design gate reviews.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Detail-oriented document review skills & Office skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Even Better (Preferred):
- Previous Department of Education experience.
- AWS Certification.
Familiarities and/or experiences with 1 or more of the following:
- Cloud Architecture, Technology and Services (especially AWS)
- Security Architecture (Identity Management IAM, OAuth / OIDC, etc.)
- Cloud Native Application Design & Architecture (i.e. Containerized Service Components and Container Orchestration Platform like Kubernetes for distributed architecture)
- Data Management and Analytics services in AWS.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD automation.
- API Design, Management & Microservices Architecture.
Clearance Level:
Position of Public Trust - Level 4U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident required.
