For more information, visit www.essinc.com.ESS is seeking a highly motivated Product Test Engineer to join our growing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing tests on battery stacks and systems. This includes tasks from subscale to full-size battery modules, integrated systems, sub-systems, and sub-components.

Key Responsibilities


  • Design, execute, and analyze tests for battery systems and subcomponents, including performance, reliability, and optimizations.
  • Operate and maintain test infrastructure. Includes instrumentation, data acquisition, controls, power electronics, fluid management devices, diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting, and safety checks.
  • Compile, analyze, and report test data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists and design engineers to support development activities, such as: modeling, root cause investigation, fundamental understanding development, and design validations.
  • Participate in FMEA, HAZOP, and other risk assessment activities to develop risk mitigation plans.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and electrochemical principles.
  • Hands-on experience in lab or engineering operations, including wet-chemistry or electrical testing.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals (including acids) and electronics such as battery testing instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with fuel cell or battery testing.
  • Experience with model creation for performance prediction.
