Project Title: ISO 9001 Process Standardization Lead
(Consultant Role) for The Kaizen Company

Four-month (December 2024 – March 2025) consulting assignment with possibility for extension based on project requirements

1. Project Background:
The USAID/Ethiopia Learning Analytics Activity is designed to bolster the capacity of USAID/Ethiopia and Djibouti to work towards a Mission-wide systematic and intentional approach to learning. The Activity improves data management and helps the Mission to make timely decisions in program design and implementation. The Activity enables wider collective impact of USAID and other partners – thereby better meeting the Development Objectives outlined in the Mission's Country Development & Cooperation Strategy (CDCS).
2. Objective:
The consultant will provide strategic leadership and expert guidance for the process mapping initiative that supports client ISO 9001 certification efforts. He/she will work closely with the local process mapping consultant and other stakeholders to ensure effective mapping, documentation, and analysis of processes.
3. Scope of Work:
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Strategic Direction: Provide high-level strategic guidance for the process mapping initiative, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 standards and organizational goals.
- Process Analysis: Oversee the analysis of current processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all process maps and documentation meet ISO 9001 requirements and contribute to the overall quality management system.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate collaboration among key stakeholders to ensure comprehensive process input and buy-in.
- Client Management: Serve as main point of contact for client and report back to Kaizen management.
4. Deliverables:
- Process Mapping Framework: A framework outlining best practices for process mapping, including templates and tools.
- Improvement Recommendations: A summary of recommendations for process enhancements based on analysis and stakeholder feedback.
- Learning Sessions: Facilitate/guide learning sessions for staff and stakeholders on related topics to ensure continuous improvement, engagement and alignment.
- Final Report: Based on client requirements.
5. Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience in process mapping, Quality Management Systems, ISO Standards or related fields.
- Certification in ISO 9001.
- Previous USAID/international donor experience and global work experience in related field.
- Strong client management skills.
- Excellent writing and communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
6. Reporting:
- The consultant will report to the Director of Organizational Transformation at Kaizen who is based in Addis Ababa.
