Highest level sales representative. Actively engaged in selling Southern Pine Lumber (SYP) by communicating with a large customer base either by telephone, email or in person.  Responsibilities include providing product availability, price quotes, and freight rates to a more established customer base.  This employee is expected to move quickly into this sales environment with little industry training required.

The salary range for this position is $95,208.88-$158,681.47.


This position is bonus eligible with a target value of 15% of salary.


Sales

  • Responsible for selling to a customer base that purchases approximately 200 MMBF of SYP lumber.
  • Provide industry and product expertise to assigned customers to ensure their success, while meeting production capabilities and sales objectives.
  • Provide regular and routine communications on all aspects of the business to management to include sales results, sales forecasts, and competitive activities.
  • Comply with division credit policies and monitor account base for consistency with assigned parameters.
  • Responsibility for sales, inventory and order file of a specific product if assigned.

Customer Service

  • Recommend appropriate courses of action regarding product claims and ensure that all claims are investigated and resolved in adherence to proper investigation procedures.
  • Provide market information to customer base
  • Provide backup to either the SYP Sales manager or other sales representatives to ensure that their customers or responsibilities are attended to when the office is short-handed.

Marketing Activities

  • Assist in marketing activities such as presentations and market research.
  • Represent the company at industry or association meetings on occasion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of wood products sales experience required or High School diploma and seven (7) years wood products sales experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated complete product knowledge and have special/complete sales ability.
  • Ability to plan and execute sales activities for large accounts or customers who purchase higher valued products requiring technical expertise.
  • Ability to make short term pricing decisions consistent with sales office objectives.
  • Ability to operate independently within overall sales policies and guidelines.
