Intermediate level sales representative. Actively engaged in selling Southern Pine Lumber (SYP) by communicating with customers either by telephone, email or in person.  Responsibilities include providing product availability, price quotes, and freight rates to customer base and generally meet the overall needs of their assigned customer base.
The salary range for this position is $71,986.11-$119,976.85.

This position is bonus eligible with a target value of 10% of salary.


Sales

  • Responsible for selling to a customer base that purchases approximately 100 MMBF of SYP lumber.
  • Provide industry and product expertise to assigned customers to ensure their success, while meeting production capabilities and sales objectives.
  • Provide regular and routine communications on all aspects of the business to management to include sales results, sales forecasts, and competitive activities.
  • Comply with division credit policies and monitor account base for consistency with assigned parameters.

Customer Service

  • Recommend appropriate courses of action regarding product claims and ensure that all claims are investigated and resolved in adherence to proper investigation procedures.
  • Provide market information to customer base.
  • Provide backup to other sales representatives to ensure that their customers are attended to when the office is short-handed.

Marketing Activities

  • Assist in marketing activities such as presentations and market research.
  • Represent the company at industry or association meetings on occasion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of sales experience (wood or building products preferred) or High School diploma and five (5) years sales experience (wood or building products preferred).

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to communicate within peer group both inside and outside the company.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and a normal degree of supervision with some discretion and judgement required.
