Position Summary: 


Under the direct supervision of the Community Response Manager, the Lead SART Advocate is responsible for delivering survivor centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive support to survivors of sexual assault.The Advocate is the primary staff member that provides accompaniment to survivors of sexual assault during forensic medical exams that occur within business hours. This position is also responsible for ensuring accompaniment is available to survivors outside of business hours by working closely with WEAVE's Intermittent SART Advocates to maintain a calendar for 24/7 coverage.

The Lead SART Advocate assists with training and coordinating the Intermittent SART Advocate team, including co-facilitating evening team meetings and time and attendance supervision of Intermittent SART advocates.

Essential Functions:


Direct Services

  • Create and maintain empowering, professional relationships with all clients to foster an atmosphere of empathy, safety, and support; advocate for clients in a manner that honors their individual experiences and is consistent with the client’s wishes. 
  • Actively work to reduce barriers to services for all clients and provide services that are inclusive, welcoming, and culturally responsive regardless of a client’s actual or perceived characteristics. Approach all clients and cases in a trauma-informed manner. 
  • Serve as primary Advocate accompanying survivors to sexual assault forensic medical exams during business hours, including incarcerated victims. 
  • Ensure 24/7 dispatch coverage by working with and scheduling the Intermittent SART team.
  • Co-facilitate monthly meetings and trainings for Intermittent SART Advocates after hours. 
  • Assist in training and coordination of the Intermittent SART Advocate team and volunteers.
  • Conduct follow up calls to all survivors who receive accompaniment services; facilitate warm hand-offs to appropriate internal and external referrals based on the survivor’s identified needs.
  • When appropriate and requested by a survivor, advocate for survivors with outside agencies (medical, social services, etc.). 
  • Coordinate with appropriate WEAVE staff to support survivors and provide accompaniment to law enforcement and district attorney interviews when requested.
  • Maintain an inventory and adequate supply of intake forms, resource packets, food, and clothing items.
  • Participate in regular meetings of the Sacramento County Sexual Assault Response Team and, when authorized by a survivor, work to advance the goals of the survivor.

Administrative: 

  • Review requirements and objectives for any grant utilized to fund the position; routinely communicate with supervisors about grant activities and assist with reporting requirements as needed. 
  • Consistent with agency and program requirements, maintain accurate, timely and confidential records of services provided in WEAVE’s data tracking tool, Efforts to Outcomes. 
  • Actively participate with Intermittent SART team to maintain accurate and complete client files and associated documentation. 
  • Attend and actively contribute to regular supervisory and team/unit meetings, internal training sessions and meetings, conferences, or seminars as relevant.
  • Review and approve timesheets, address discrepancies, and ensure timely submission for payroll processing.

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with appropriate WEAVE staff to deliver presentations regarding WEAVE services and issues relevant to sexual assault.
  • Participate in appropriate training related to serving victims and survivors of sexual assault, including understanding the intersection of sexual assault and other victimization types. 
  • Coordinate and lead Sacramento County SART meetings with local law enforcement, medical examiners, the DA's office, and Crime Lab on a monthly basis to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and case management.
  • Adhere to all agency and department policies and procedures. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications


:

  • Combination of education and experience to successfully fulfill position requirements, lived experience appreciated.  
  • Ability to work with survivors of domestic or sexual violence, or sex trafficking, who are experiencing crisis.
  • Availability to work some evenings every month.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners and social service agencies.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with management, coworkers, external partners and clients.

  • Confidence advocating for survivors with individuals who work in positions of authority such as law enforcement, medical and mental health teams. 

  • Ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and data entry.
  • Consistent demonstration of positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and professional behavior; ability to work collaboratively with individuals from different areas of expertise, backgrounds, knowledge, and skillsets.
  • Complete WEAVE's 69-hour training and certification program (post-hiring requirement)
  • Possess a valid driver's license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post-employment offer requirement).
