Acting as the key interface between the dashboard & analysis users and production team (i.e. project manager or data scientist), he/she gathers information, documents processes, and confirms the final documents with users.? Your main tasks as Business Intelligence Manager will include overseeing the creation and maintenance of data-driven insights and dashboards, detailed analyses, evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions. The main objective of the business intelligence manager is to guide the business as a whole to make informed financial and growth decisions.
To succeed in this role, you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users. You will work alongside the Finance and Business Intelligence team and report directly to the FP&A Director.
Duties and responsibilities
- Visualizing data via Excel, Gainsight, Power BI or other data representation tool to help tell the “story” of any insights gained and presenting that to various levels at the company.
- Breaking down and understanding important business data, presenting the results, and developing optimization strategies where necessary to cross-functional team members and management.
- Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements and tracking/reporting on progress towards those goals and implemented changes.
- Developing new analytical models, reporting dashboards, and ways to standardize data collecting and reporting for the company to improve business performance.
- Establishing and performing continual user acceptance testing to ensure reporting dashboards are operating properly and numbers are represented accurately on an ongoing basis.
- Gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders (e.g. Budget owners, ELT, BOD).
- Identifying and monitoring current and future customers using business intelligence data and tools.
- Scoping and developing new customer cube to be utilized by the company.
- Woking with Data team to develop necessary Data Lake/Warehouse to house all required data from various sources.
- Identifying, developing, cataloguing, and documenting end-to-end process for any required Extract-Tansform-Load (ETL) processes.
- Build and maintain various dashboards and analytical reporting pivots used to analyze and report on data created within the Customer Cube.
- Acting a liaison between finance and current internal and external data teams as changes and updates are required or errors are found.
- Ensuring proper security protocols are met, enforced, and audited
- Managing projects, developing project plans, and monitoring performance.
- Prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
- Assisting with identifying, evaluating, and scoping staffing and resource requirements towards a future dedicated Data team.
- Assisting human resource department in hiring other data specialists, such as data architects, when needed.
- Providing leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff.
- Staying up to date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
- Thinking outside the box and monitoring market trends to identify future issues or business possibilities.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in business computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in business analysis or a related field.
- The ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
- Advanced technical skills or understanding of reporting dashboards, databases (e.g. Snowflake), and database structure and terminology.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI and/or other data analysis tools as well as other Microsoft applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Superior proficiency in analytical and conceptual thinking skills and creating detailed reports and giving presentations
- Foundational understanding of statistical techniques and statistical modeling.
- Excellent documentation skills.
