Sr. Network Architect

The senior network architect or network engineer who has experience with both ISP access and Carrier backbone technologies and software support systems.  You have played an integral role in the design, planning, and implementation of Layer 2 and Layer 3 ISP/carrier networks.  Additionally, you have extensive experience both supporting internal teams and external customers.  Dealing with network outages and problem-solving is something that you view as a challenge and opportunity to permanently improve the network.  You are driven to learn, are passionate about networking, and are excited about engaging with new technologies and have a proven track record of growing your skill outside of your current area of expertise.  Mentoring and training junior and entry level team members is something you both value and enjoy.
Responsibilities

  • Immediately contribute and participate in Wyyerd’s existing network deployments.
  • Design and support an expanding network and customer base.
  • Provide guidance regarding network integration, expansion, and improvement with emerging technologies in mind.
  • Contribute and create network processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate and define product offerings and technical capabilities.
  • Participate in an oncall and support schedule. 
  • Become part of an amazing team, learn from and mentor coworkers.and discover and build up best practices to enhance your expertise.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Expert of Carrier / ISP Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies and solutions. L2VPN / L3VPN, and MEF terms and technologies (EPL,EVPL,ELINE, ELAN, L2PT, RFC2544, Y.1731).
  • Expert in Routing and Switching with in depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, SR-MPLS, SRv6, VPN, IPV6 etc.
  • Expert knowledge of ISP access and Carrier backbone technologies and products.
  • Experience and understanding network monitoring, alarming, data collection, and archiving.
  • Experience with mentoring and supporting Network Operations Centers (NOC) process, procedures, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of network OSS systems including NMS (LibreNMS), DHCP (ISC), DNS, SNMP.
  • Experience with Linux, Cloud (AWS), Python Scripting and Automation and NetOps while not mandatory are of significant consideration.
  • Strong preference for candidates with Juniper, Ciena, and Calix experience as well as professional level certifications such as JNCIP or CCNP or equivalent and higher.
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn and engage fully regarding core network responsibilities, Wyyerd’s business, methods and culture.
