Location: Worcester CountyReports to: Executive DirectorStatus: Hourly, Non-ExemptOur OrganizationGirls on the Run (GOTR) Worcester County is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run uses running as a vehicle for teaching life skills and promoting health outcomes for 8-13 year old girls. As part of a network of Girls on the Run councils across the US and Canada, we implement a proven afterschool program in over 45 diverse communities in central Massachusetts.GOTR Worcester County is dedicated to being an inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible organization.

We strive to create programming that engages all communities, to be intentional about staff and volunteer diversity, and to promote a culture of inclusion across the organization.The Program Coordinator will join our small team of four staff members as we work to benefit Worcester County area girls through our mission-driven nonprofit.Position SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic team player who enjoys building new and authentic relationships with others. As part of a small team, the Program Coordinator is responsible for helping to expand our reach and build new teams.

They are responsible for ensuring that programs are well-run and set up for long-term success through excellent relationship-building and must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades.The Program Coordinator reports to the Girls on the Run Executive Director. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting approximately 30 site locations in the Girls on the Run Worcester County footprint. Some of the key responsibilities falling within these areas include:Program Outreach and Site Management

  • Implement the GOTR strategic program plan and collaborate with the team to achieve program goals
  • Conduct proactive outreach and follow up with school principals, staff, and community members - at both new and returning sites - to generate support for GOTR
  • Ensure compliance with site policies and procedures, implementing improvements as needed
  • Ensure program sites have qualified volunteer coaches
  • Support coaches and site liaisons as they prepare for and launch the season
  • Implement effective coach recruitment and retention strategies that result in qualified volunteers that mirror the demographics of our community and girls served
  • Communicate with families as questions arise
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and serve as a responsive and helpful point of contact for an assigned list of sites
  • Work with schools as they recruit and train volunteer coaches in diverse communities
  • Ensure effective management and record keeping for 30-40 sites
  • Lead and Facilitate large coach training session and coach meetings (in person and virtual)
  • Conduct site visits at program sites to ensure program integrity
  • Compile results of community impact projects
  • Communicate with grant teams on pre and post surveys
  • Prepare and distribute memorandum of understanding (MOU’s) for all grant teams
  • Assist operations team in coach snack reimbursements and transportation cost for grant teams

Administrative & Technology

  • Perform administrative pieces of program implementation including program inventory and maintenance, registration information, program evaluations and applications in GOTR database (pinwheel)
  • Utilize various platforms to communicate and collaborate including Google Suite, Canva and Dropbox
  • Follow internal processes and protocols to ensure program quality and access to reliable data
  • Collect and manage Unstoppable Us donations, facilitate distribution of prizes and assist operation team with donor stewardship

Program Quality and Coordination

  • Create and excellent GOTR experience for participants, families and coaches
  • Help ensure volunteers meet all compliance requirements (background checks, training, CPR)
  • Conduct in-person mid-season site visits and coordinate with other stakeholders
  • Review site visit feedback and provide follow-up to coaches and sites as necessary
  • Support the creation of marketing fliers and social media posts
  • Facilitate participant registration, including collection of paperwork and program fees
  • Monitor sites’ attendance tracking through Pinwheel platform

5K Event

  • Communicate all program related 5K logistics to caregivers and coaches, including creating the Celebratory 5K Guide
  • Manage all aspects of 5K volunteers including creating volunteer applications, communicating with volunteers, managing volunteers at the 5K and setting up volunteer appreciations
  • Manage volunteer assignments on 5K race day

We are looking for candidates with:

  • 2+ years of relevant work or educational experience
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions
  • Experience with spreadsheet and database management, Google Suite, Zoom, and shared file workspaces
  • An adaptable and resourceful nature and growth mindset
  • The desire to be an integral part of a small nonprofit’s sustained success
  • Skilled at working both independently and collaboratively
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs)
  • Non-profit management experience
  • Fundraising experience
  • Connections to the local community

Work Environment: This is a full-time non-exempt position and reports to the Executive Director, offering a compensation range of $18 - $21 per hour, depending on experience. GOTR offers generous paid time off days. Some evening and weekend availability is required of the Program Coordinator to support coach, volunteer, and fundraising events. This position is in GOTR’s central Whitinsville office 2-3 days a week, with remote work allowed on designated days each week; however, candidates must reside in the Girls on the Run Worcester County program area.Girls on the Run is an equal opportunity employer.

Life at Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.\n\nGirls on the Run International (GOTRI) is the parent organization of more than 200 Girls on the Run councils across the United States and Canada. GOTRI establishes, trains and supports a network of community-level councils with local volunteers. The volunteers serve as role models to the girls through coaching the 10-week, 20 lesson curricula.
