Management Controls Inc. (MCi) is looking for a Business Development Representative who will help accelerate our growth by targeting net new prospective customers in our core and new industrial markets. You will be a cold call specialist who engages and educates hundreds of prospects each month, converting them from the top of funnel through a hand-off to our sales team. While email follow up, LinkedIn, and research activities will be necessary at times, 80%+ of your time will be focused on cold calling.

We have invested in a best-in-class technology ecosystem to win on the phones, and now we need all-star representatives to execute our plan.  As a salaried team member in a high-paced and dynamic sales environment you will be commission-eligible with an OTE (On-Target Earnings) of $70,000-95,000.Management Controls, Inc (MCi) is a fast-growing, Houston-based enterprise software developer and services provider of contractor data and spend management solutions with over 180 employees across the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Management Controls is headquartered in Houston, TX. This position is open to candidates outside of Houston, within the contiguous U.S., that are able to work 100% remote.


Duties and responsibilities:


Mostly: 

  • Make outbound phone calls to contacts at key target accounts, usually 100+ calls per day 
  • “Bucket” prospect interactions for movement along the funnel (ex. “Not Interested” vs. “Not Now” vs. “Sales Qualified Lead” 
  • Arrange and host presentations with our Subject Matter Experts and prospects to demo the software 
  • Own the handoff between interested prospects and the sales team 
  • Craft and deploy impactful follow up messaging to warm prospects 

Occasionally: 

  • Identify and research potential new prospects for MCi 
  • Partner with Sales, Demand, and Content teams to plan and execute outreach 
  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns and events to book meeting for Sales 
  • Build Target Lists through ZoomInfo 
  • Input contacts and leads into Salesforce and update them as needed 
  • Travel to conferences and attend scheduled in-person events throughout the year 

RequirementsQualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • 0-3 years of experience cold calling successfully  
  • 0-3 years of experience in a complex sales environment 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Effective communication skills with a wide variety of people. 
  • Strength in customer service skills. 
  • Willing to work in a highly collaborative team environment. 
  • Competent in the Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Word. Experience with PhoneReadyLeads and FrontSpin preferred. 
  • Understanding of advanced sales analytics through the use of common CRM platforms

  • Effective, polished interaction in 1:1 engagements or 1: Many presentations

  • Ability to drive product/service improvements in core technical focus area 
  • Logical and Critical thinking, and demonstrated success in dealing with ambiguity and problem definition under continual deadline constraints
