Our Therapeutic Childcare Center (TC) is lovingly dedicated to preparing children experiencing homelessness for success by integrating comprehensive services that address their behavioral, developmental, educational, social-emotional, family, medical, and other needs all in one location.
Position Summary
Serves as the Therapeutic Childcare Program’s Licensed Speech Therapist part-time, providing speech and language evaluations, and individual and/or group services as needed to children aged birth to 5 and their families. Supports parents with skills and strategies to understand and manage their child’s specific developmental delay, including take-home practice activities. Prepares a written Home Child Development Plan for the specific developmental concern.

Essential Functions

- Conducts speech and language evaluations on referred children, ages 0-5.
- Makes appropriate interpretations of evaluation data and contributes to the team with recommendations for treatment, planning, and interventions. Provides therapeutic recommendations to staff for implementation in the classroom.
- Provides information and guidance to families on strategies to support treatment at home.
- Conducts individual or group speech/language therapy for children.
- Evaluates speech and language intervention effectiveness on a regular basis.
- Attends and/or prepares reports/recommendations for child-related conference meetings
- Conducts a quantitative evaluation at the beginning and end of the sessions.
- Documents each client/collateral visit in the electronic health record and monitors data and outcomes.
- Provides referrals for additional services, as needed.
- Communicates regularly with the Program Manager and Supervisor concerning client issues, needs, and recommendations.
- On-time completion of assigned training and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Masters in Speech and Language Pathology, and
- California License in Speech and Language Pathology, and
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the Language/Speech and Hearing Association
- Expertise in the practice of speech and language evaluation and therapy; knowledge of models of early childhood development.
- Intermediate user of MS Office.
- Ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks upon employment.
- Annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary.
