Revenue Accounting Manager


to join the Accounting team based inAustin, Texas.

Who you are:


You’re a revenue recognition expert with a strong command of ASC 606, ensuring our financial operations are precise, compliant, and supportive of the company’s strategic growth. You oversee all aspects of revenue accounting functions including contract review, revenue recognition, revenue related processes and controls, and revenue systems, while ensuring timely and accurate revenue reporting. You play a pivotal role in aligning revenue recognition with accounting standards and business activities, collaborating seamlessly with teams across sales, revenue operations, and legal to verify compliance with contract terms.Your experience in high-growth environments has equipped you to lead the development and refinement of revenue and billing workflows.

You’re proactive and resourceful, approaching each task—large or small—with determination and care. Known for your meticulous attention to detail, you recognize the impact that timely, accurate financial operations have on the broader business.With a solid foundation in finance and accounting, you’re just as comfortable in spreadsheets and systems as you are working directly with clients and internal partners to ensure clarity and compliance in all financial reporting and revenue operations.

What you get to do every day:


  • Analyze and interpret customer contracts, modifications, and terminations to determine appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606
  • Work with sales, revenue operations, and legal teams to review and understand contract terms, ensuring alignment between contract language and revenue recognition policies
  • Manage the month-end revenue close process including creating and reviewing journal entries, completing balance reconciliations for accounts receivable and deferred revenue related accounts, and performing MRR analysis
  • Participate in financial close review meetings, delivering revenue results and key metrics to business leaders 
  • Identify, review and implement process improvements to the quote-to-cash process to increase operational efficiencies while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the underlying accounting records
  • Manage the customer invoicing process and verify the accuracy and completeness of Accounts Receivables and Deferred Revenue
  • Evaluating opportunities for further automation through integration of existing systems and assist with the setup, maintenance, and enhancement of revenue accounting systems, which include NetSuite, Zone Billing, and Avalara
  • Serve as lead point of contact for the external auditors on all revenue and billing inquiries 
  • Design, document, implement and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and controls over revenue accounting cycle including commissions
  • Assist in calculating commissions on a monthly basis

What you bring to the role:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in revenue recognition, preferably in a SaaS or technology company, with at least 2 years in a people manager role
  • Propensity to automate processes for efficiency and data integrity
  • Solid understanding of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles, in particular, experience with ASC 606 for software companies
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong excel skills over large amounts of data (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and Charts)
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and revenue management software and tools, preferably experience with Salesforce, NetSuite and Zone Billing, or similar applications 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate accounting requirements / process into technical specifications and needs 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading, coaching and developing a team in a rapid growth environment
  • Experience working with large volumes of customer transactions and interaction
  • Strong analytical skills to provide insights on analysis and variance explanations related to the financial statements
