Position Overview
The Junior Support Developer is a hybrid role that integrates software development with technical support functions, primarily based at the SimpleTire Experience Center in Central Philadelphia. This part-time position involves resolving a wide range of technical issues related to networking/Wi-Fi, printers, laptops, and other peripherals, as well as supporting lighting and projectors. The role also includes supporting and maintaining existing applications and quickly learning new technologies such as React.js, Next.js, and Contentful to enhance application performance and user experience.
Experience Center Support
- Address and resolve a broad spectrum of technical issues, including those related to digital displays, networking/Wi-Fi connections, printers, laptops, and other peripherals, as well as lighting and projectors.
- Mentor and guide support staff, including Help Desk Managers, to independently troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms with both existing and potential vendors to ensure alignment with budgetary objectives.
- Develop and implement solutions for gaps and upgrades in applications and technology stacks.
Support and Maintain Existing Applications
- Utilize programming languages such as JavaScript, ReactJS, HTML, and CSS to maintain and enhance existing applications.
- Collaborate with the development team to pinpoint and execute areas of improvement.
Learn and Adapt to New Technologies
- Rapidly acquire proficiency in new technologies such as React.js, Next.js, and Contentful, applying these skills to improve and update existing applications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Entry-level position, suitable for individuals with up to one year of experience.
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences and Technology (IST), or a related field.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, HTML, and CSS.
- A strong desire to learn and utilize new technologies, including React.js, Next.js, and Contentful.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies and tools.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods.
- Primary work location at the Central Philadelphia Experience Center, with up to 75% of work time on-site.
- Frequent virtual communication, including meetings and one-on-one conversations via computer.
- Continuous operation of computers, including extensive viewing of computer monitors and frequent data entry.
- Occasional travel required (up to 5%).
