As a Designer you will be designing Injection Mould tooling using proprietary CAD/CAM software and developing NC programs to manufacture injection mould tooling and machined components.
What you'll do:
- Design tool core/cavity using customer-supplied solid models.
- Design associated aspects of injection moulds using approved gate and ejector layouts.
- Create NC machine tool instructions from the developed designs.
- Provide assistance as needed to machine operators.
- Design modifications to existing moulds.
- Analyse parts and suggest design changes using Proto Labs internal software.
- Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department.
- Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.
- Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
- Problem solve complex tool design issues
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
What it takes:
- Good knowledge of 3D CAD software, Ideally SolidWorks
- Ability to multitask and prioritise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Accuracy is vital – must be detail oriented.
- Must be computer literate.
- Able to learn advanced proprietary graphical computer-aided design software.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in mathematics.
- Aptitude / Competencies:
- Strong sense of urgency.
- Desired: Experience designing with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, SDRC I-DEAS, Pro-E, UGS, Catia).
- Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
- Able to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions, and direction from supervisors or technical leads.
