The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the accounting team and heavily involved in month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes. A business professional who demonstrates high integrity and is resourceful, innovative, collaborative and driven to create value within the accounting and manufacturing organizations.   Responsibilities include journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliation and analytical analysis. The Staff Accountant will support the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal controls.


The salary range for this position is $47,342.90 - $78,904.83.


Month End Closing:


  • Responsible for the proper accounting and month-end closing of specific sections of the general ledger.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Calculate, prepare, and enter journal entries, including accruals in compliance with GAAP. Prepare supporting documentation and reconciliations for journal entries.
  • Coordinate with management on any discrepancies found to reach resolution.
  • Communicate with external parties regarding contract administration, invoicing, and documentation requirements.
  • Partners with operations to advance their knowledge of accounting policies, the enterprise accounting system and other technologies as deemed necessary.
  • Special projects and additional ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:


  • Responsible for creating reports and performing basic analyses of financial results.
  • Provide basic cost, revenue, and business statistic information in a timely manner for external reporting.
  • Assist in providing management with operating statements and reports for use in managing the business.
  • Participate in cost analysis, budgeting and forecasting cycles.

Controls and Procedures:


  • Prepare and provide information as requested by the internal and external auditors in a timely manner. This includes general ledger account information, detailed account reconciliations and communicating the nature of transactions that have been entered into certain general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations to validate accuracy of financial information and maintain accurate workpapers.
  • Review and maintain historical data in accordance with corporate record retention policy.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley procedures and ensure an effective system of internal controls by reviewing and designing SOX controls.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency using Excel required.
  • Basic proficiency using report writing/database programs preferred.
  • Experience using an enterprise accounting system preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Self-starter with a drive for excellence, ability to build strong working relationships, and an aptitude to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Primarily office environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret written documentation.
