About the Toronto R&D Center:
Arcadium Lithium’s R&D Center and lithium pilot production site is in Markham, Toronto, ON. Our center serves as the pilot production site for a new technology in a start-up-style environment, focusing on our patented lithium metal production technology in preparation for commercialization. The site includes a fabrication shop, a process testing area for lithium production and casting, as well as a laboratory for chemical analysis. While the conventional method of producing metallic lithium involves lithium chloride electrolysis, our patented technology and cell design utilizes an innovative lithium carbonate electrolysis process.
This approach not only allows us to use the more abundant lithium carbonate as the raw material, but also provides an environmentally friendly process by eliminating the production of chlorine gas.Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and action-oriented Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team at Arcadium Lithium’s Toronto R&D Center and lithium pilot production site. This is a hands-on role with high-impact in a start-up style environment where you will play a key part in the innovation and scale-up of our patented lithium metal production technology. Join our small team of high-performance engineers and technicians, as we embark on the exciting journey of commercializing a new technology by conducting process optimization testing, process piloting and scale-up to a commercial-scale production unit. This is an opportunity to learn all about lithium from experienced engineers at one of the industry's leading lithium companies, as you work on developing the next-generation technology for lithium production. The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for fabricating, assembling and conducting process testing, and operating the pilot production unit for the development of the new lithium electrolysis cell at the Toronto R&D Center.
